Conscience: sport ilustration

Josep Roca i Balasch

Summary
In this paper a functional conception of the concepts "Consciousness" and "Conscience" is presented, accompanied with sport exemplification. From a psychological perspective it is said, first, that "Consciousness" is, functionally, to speak. That is: associative functioning developed as language adaptation. Second, it is said that speaking is a way of being awake which constitutes knowledge or cognition and, also, self-cognition. Third, it is argued that "Conscience" means knowledge and, specifically, cognitive distinction between what is right and what is wrong related to one's own behavior, eventually associated to positive or aversive conditioning. Finally it is underlined that "Consciousness " and "Conscience" both are knowledge that have the connotation of obligation in sport and in life in general and that the so called "psychological techniques" allow the implementation of that knowledge in subject's own behavior.
