Apunts. Educació Física i Esports is a multidisciplinary scientific journal edited by the National Institute of Physical Education of Catalonia (Spain) which was founded in 1985. It is a trilingual journal (Catalan, Spanish and English) that uses the double-blind peer review process and is covered by several major indexing services including Web of Science (ESCI) and Scopus. It publishes original scientific articles in the fields of human motricity, physical education and sport sciences in both paper and digital format www.revista-apunts.com.
Four printed issues are published per year (quarterly).
With the goal of communicating and disseminating the scientific output in the fields of physical education and sport sciences, Apunts. Educació Física i Esports only accepts original studies coming from a research validated by scientific committees that contribute significant new developments: grounded theoretical approaches, innovative methodological approaches and rigorous survey articles.
This publication is targeted at anyone in academia or the professional world interested in and associated with research in the physical activity and sport sciences. Apunts. Educació Física i Esports is a benchmark scientific journal in Spain and Latin America.

Opinion articles and scientific letters are also accepted based on the judgement of the Editorial Board.
The digital version includes the section entitled Scientific Notes, short scientific articles which follow a predetermined template and are geared at new developments and prospective scientific studies.
In order to reach the target demands of scientific rigour in the studies published, the journal requires strict compliance with:
- the criteria stipulated by the highest publishing standards;
- the criteria of scientific rigour through its admission policy of received articles, the rigorous evaluation of submissions and the rejection rate;
- standardised publishing norms following American Psychological Association (APA) guidelines and formatting rules;
- quarterly publishing.
The digital version is open-access included in the DOAJ. More than 1500 articles can be read, downloaded, copied, distributed, printed, searched or linked with the complete texts, given that all the studies published are subjected to the Creative Commons license.
